Tuxedo Ties
Ties for tuxedos or more commonly tuxedo ties. What can I say? DON'T FORGET THEM! I can guarantee that if you forget this you will look silly. Now there are a few exceptions. Instead of using a tuxedo tie you can use a bow tie. Not everyone can pull this off. If you want an example of a person who can pull this off I think just about every Bond did at one point or another. Oh and that is Bond as in James Bond. Now back to tuxedo ties. For the most part they are black and match the vest, jacket and pants part of the tuxedo and are in exact contrast to the shirt underneath. Now if you are wearing a black shirt and have a black tuxedo, although this is not all that common, you can wear a white tie or a white bow tie. Most of the time the tie will be silk, otherwise the white tie looks kinda boring and dull as the white color of the fabric will show more than the black fabric so you need to have a good quality material and the best of the best is silk.
Tuxedos and Clip on Ties
Ok, if you are like me and you are not too god with ties you can most certainly wear a clip on ties or clip on ties with your tuxedo... Just don't let anyone know. It would certainly be better to learn how to tie a tie and wear that. I would recommend that you learn how to and not just do it once before you go out. I say this because sometimes ties, especially bow ties. You may also want to know just in case it gets to tight or needs to be redone.
Where to find Tuxedo Ties
To find a tie for your tuxedo I would recommend shopping in the same place you got the tuxedo so that the people know what you are talking about and can help you based specifically on your tuxedo. They are also more likely to have what you need. If this is not possible don't fret. As long as you don't have a very unique tuxedo you should be able to explain to any store attendant what you need. Make sure you say what color shirt you have picked out, especially if it is not white. Also consider whether the button show well or are worth showing off. If you have a white shirt with black buttons you should go with a bow tie unless you don't want the buttons to show. If you have a white shirt and lighter color buttons you should probably cover them up. One of the great things about tuxedos and ties and everything else that goes with it, vest and all is that contrast. There is a very nice and very uniform contrast and you really don't want to throw that off. A tuxedo is really just a show of what you can do with black and white clothing. Now that you know that I think you will be safe just going to any old store and buying a tie for your tuxedo yourself. If you are still uncertain or have questions then I would recommend going to a store that specifically sells clothing, especially formal wear or you can take a friend.
