Tie Tacks

Tie Tacks Guide

What if you hate tie pins and tie bars?  Well there aren't a whole lot of choices for you.  You can't just let your tie flap around in the wind or whenever you take a step.  What can you do?  Well the tie has to be held together.  Why not try a tie tack.  Tie tacks are one of my favorite accessories because they free up my creativity.  With a tie bar you have to worry about where you place it and it it'll slide off.  With a tie tack I can stick the thing anywhere and not worry about it going anywhere.  I know it sounds silly, liking tie tacks and all, but  to me it is just as much a part of the tie as the ties stripes.

Where to Put a Tie Tack

Well... where do you want to put it?  I'll start with the obvious... On your tie.  End of story?  Not quite.  Now you have the options of high or low, left or right, or you can be compulsive and get it right in the center so that the tie is not off balance when you put the tie tac in.  You could also be creative.  If you a re a person who is naturally outside the box and everyone knows it, you can put it wherever you want.  One good place to put it is to the lower left (lower right from the other persons perspective).  You probably wont want to put the tie tack too low if you are going to be without your jacket at any time because your tie will turn into a pendulum.  It will swing loose because there will be more weight at the end and if you factor in the leverage and the way people move the tie will swing free and will probably bump into you enough to bug you.

Other Use for a Tie Tack

One other thing that you can use a tie tack for.  If you have the problem stated above where your tie swings loose or will not hold still, if you are wearing a thin short or one that isn't too terribly expensive you can use the tie tad to fasten you tie to your shirt.  Be careful when and where you do this because you don't want to have it too tight because it may pull tighter and you don't want the tie tack too high and too loose otherwise you tie will buckle out.  Experiment and try a few ways.  Remember to sit and stand and move around to see how it works out.
