If you want everyone to notice you where the best tie pin you have. It's as simple as that. Not many people today wear tie pins. It would be in your favor to wear one. They come in a variety of materials. The pins can be made of a lighter aluminum like material, similar to the Russian metals during world war one and two. The heavier metal ones are just as nice, but you can't go wrong with quality no matter what the material. Though a majority of what I've seen is heavier metal and some may have even been gold plated. But I am always drawn to the ones with more character. I feel that the tie pin I wear should have some of the same qualities.
A tie pin requires a few things. One thing is a tie, but that's a bit obvious. Now there are severeal types of pins. Some of them have two seperate parts; a needle type part(the pin) and the clasp on the other end that works much like an earring or a junior achievement award or any old button like that. There is also another method which has a pin like a safety pin. this you use just like any other pin which you can just take a fold of cloth on the tie and stick the pin through the cloth and then put it back into the hook shape to secure the point and the pin to your tie. Now how and where to wear a tie clip, that is different. Most tie pins shouldn't reach the entire way across your ties. If you have a tie pin that buttons or sticks itself on anywhere then try not to have it take any more than 3/4 of you tie width, especially if you are wearing the pin lower. You don't want to end up waegin something like a hubcap. Try to keep the tie pins on the smaller end of the spectrum and keep it centered and not too far above either the button in your jacket or, if you aren't wearing a jacket, you can wear the tie pin about 2/3 of the way down to 3/4 or you can wear the tie pin somewhere in the upper 2/5 of your tie.
