Narrow Ties, What The Deal With Narrow Ties
Narrow ties are nothing more than another style of ties. The only difference is, of course, their width. Ties normally go from a width of one to one and a half inches to two and a half to three inches. This creates a pendulum type of look. At the bottom or end of these ties it normally quickly narrows to a point creating a ninety degree angle at the end. With narrow or thin ties, this is not always the case. Narrow ties are not seen very often in the business world, they are more for formal parties or get-togethers. Narrow ties tend to be more popular with men who go to a lot of get-togethers or parties. However they are certainly not limited to that. Narrow ties are also more popular with women than broad or wide ties.
When To Wear Narrow Ties
There is no set rule for when to where narrow ties. For one thing it completely depends on what you are wearing. It can also depend on your body type. For example a thin tie like the narrow tie would probably better suit a person who is slender in nature and towards the taller end of the spectrum. At the very least make sure the tie does not go past the belly button too far, if at all. As for the time and place, as mentioned before, the narrow ties are more for social events and not so much for the average work place unless you wear the right clothing with it, however this normally includes a jacket.
Who Can Wear a Narrow Tie
Now everyone can pull off a narrow tie. Sometimes it is their fault and sometimes it isn't. People who are taller tend to have an easier time wearing thinner ties because it fits their body composition. You certainly don't want the tie to just draw a line straight through your upper body. Also people who are heavier may want to wear a larger tie so as to not make themselves look bigger than they really are. The reason not everyone can wear a thin tie is because nobody keeps their jacket on the whole time. This or narrow ties are great for formal occasions or on cruises, but if you are going to be taking your jacket off, best leave the thinner ties at home.
